The Audit log records important actions in your business: sign-ins, changes to employees, roles, settings, prices and stock, device pairing, approvals, setup checklist steps and more. You need the View the business audit log permission (owners, administrators, managers and accountants by default).
When a customer is erased, their personal details are cleared from the audit log too; the record of what happened and who did it stays.
Each record shows the Time, the Action, the Actor (who did it), the Record it affected, the IP address and Details. Records cannot be changed or deleted.
Support sessions
Section titled “Support sessions”If you ask your service provider for help, they may open a support session to look at your business as one of your users. While it is active, the back office shows a banner: Support session: you are acting as … Everything is recorded and visible to the business. People, roles, passwords and settings cannot be changed during a support session. Actions taken during it are marked via support in the audit log.
Account recovery by your service provider
Section titled “Account recovery by your service provider”If the owner is locked out (lost phone and recovery codes, or no access to the sign-in e-mail), your service provider can — after checking the owner’s identity — send a password reset link, turn off two-step sign-in or change the owner’s sign-in e-mail. Each action is written to your audit log with who did it, when and why, and the owner is told by e-mail. See Lost or replaced phone.
